No one who works full-time should have to live in poverty. It’s time to raise the minimum wage.
When the cost of labor goes up (as with the rise in cost for taxes, for energy, for goods or materials), the company must pass along the added expenses to the consumer.
Also, increased costs of labor, promotes automation (eliminating jobs) and/or a simple reduction in staff, laid off or less hours being available to be worked.
One last point, are the rest of the lower and middle class earners going to receive the same percentage increase in our wages? Other wise all you are doing to them (us), is making our paychecks worth less in actual buying power, negating the value of education and experience we all work hard to achieve.
Literally in economics… In high school… You learn that raising minimum wages (setting a wage floor) offsets the market...
Here’s the thing though. If you raise minimum wage, you raise it for EVERYONE. Do you really want a McDonalds cashier...
